Sometimes in life, we have experiences that make us want to go and find the things that previously brought us joy and kick them in the shins for being so horrible by comparison. Eating breakfast at 8 Days Cafe is one of those things. Even now, hours later, I am curled up on the couch, crying at the inadequacy of all other areas of my life.

Allergies are rife, right? I am allergic to stupid people, working 9 to 5, One Direction, cleaning up after myself and the way Sunday afternoon rushes by so quickly. Luckily for me, Camberwell boasts an allergy conscious cafe designed for people like me and also people who have actual allergies. I've spoken before about how gluten and I are fighting, so I decided to take myself along for a guilt-free breakfast. Well, it was lunch time. And also I felt mildly guilty because I did a lot of eavesdropping.

It’s not often that food reflects a work of art. At Twenty and Six, however, you can expect exactly that. It’s not necessarily beautiful to look at. In fact, the dish I ordered was particularly brown in appearance, but upon closer inspection at mine and every other dish around me it quickly became apparent that the love that goes in to the preparation and presentation of every dish is second to none. It’s kind of like eating a Pro Hart piece.

Occasionally I go somewhere for breakfast and immediately feel more beautiful and more relaxed just for being there. Parlor Milk Bar & Kitchen is one such place, and not just because the name itself is so darling. It's a combination of, well, everything about it - the provincial decor, the perpetual smell of baking, the shuttered windows and the open fire. It's like going home to see your parents, if they were tasteful and elegant French people.

Sometimes people spell things in cre8ive ways to appear more exotic or smarter. Examples include Jaxon, Kwik Kopy and Limonatta. Just to be clear, it should be spelled 'limonata'. But whatever - as it turns out, the name is the least of your worries.
